CORA Request Form

Any person may make a written reasonable request to the La Plata Conservation District (LPCD) Custodian of Records for copy(ies) of specific records that are eligible, or, make an appointment at a reasonable time to inspect specific records that are eligible according to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). Response will be made to the requestor within 3 (three) working days. The three working‐day response time begins the first working day following receipt of the request. A request received after noon or any day LPCD is officially closed will be considered received as of the following working day. The LPCD may add up to a seven‐working‐day extension if extenuating circumstances apply as described in section 24‐72‐203(3)(b), C.R.S. Exempt files include: Personnel files of employee's address, telephone number and financial information, and Executive Session meeting. Other files may be exempt pursuant to CORA.

There will be a charge of .25 (twenty-five cents) per page for copying for standard sized pages (8 ½ “ x 11"). Actual cost charges will apply for maps, oversized pages, duplication of COs, audio recordings, flip drives, etc. There will be a charge of $33.58 per hour (1st hour free) for research and retrieval of requested records. A deposit of $33.58 will be required for large record requests, with total payment due before records are released. Broad, general requests will likely be more costly to the requestor due to staff time required to fulfill these requests. Fees will go up July 1, 2024, and, every July 1st every 5 (five) years thereafter.

If the Custodian of Records attempts to contact a requestor to clarify a request or discuss the scope of a request and the requestor does not respond within ten business days, the LPCD will close the request and require the requestor to submit a new records request.

The LPCD will hold records assembled in response to a CORA request for no more than ten business days after the requestor has been notified that the records are available for inspection or pick-up. The holding period may be shorter for records which are needed for any use. Failure to inspect or pick-up the records within this timeframe will be considered an abandoned request, and the request will be automatically closed. Records will be sent to the requestor via best way determined by the Custodian of Records.
